Whereas a growing bulk of work has demonstrated that both adults and children are sensitive to frequently occurring word sequences, little is known about the potential role of meaning in the processing of such multiword chunks. Here, we take a first step toward assessing the contribution of meaningfulness in the processing of multiword sequences, using items that varied in chunk meaningfulness. In a phrasal-decision study, we compared reaction times for triads of three-word sequences, corresponding to idiomatic expressions, compositional phrases, and phrasal fragments, while controlling for phrase and substring frequencies. Chunk meaningfulness, as assessed by a separate subjective rating study, was found to speed up decision times for all three types of strings The more meaningful a multiword sequence was judged to be, the faster it was processed, independently of whether it was idiomatic, compositional in nature, or a phrasal fragment. These results highlight the importance of taking meaning into account when considering the processing of multiword chunks, consistent with predictions of construction-based approaches to language. The aim was to evaluate, in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and acute ischemic stroke, the association of prior anticoagulation with vitamin?K antagonists (VKAs) or direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) with stroke severity, utilization of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), safety of IVT, and 3-month outcomes.
This was a cohort study of consecutive patients (2014-2019) on anticoagulation versus those without (controls) with regard to stroke severity, rates of IVT/mechanical thrombectomy, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), and favorable outcome (modified Rankin Scale score 0-2) at 3?months.
Of 8,179 patients (mean [SD] age, 79.8 [9.6] years; 49% women), 1,486 (18%) were on VKA treatment, 1,634 (20%) on DOAC treatment at stroke onset, and 5,059 controls. Stroke severity was lower in patients on DOACs (median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale 4, [interquartile range 2-11]) compared with VKA (6, [2-14]) and controls (7, [3-15], p?<?0.001; quantile regression β -2.1, 95% confidence inte AF was associated with decreased admission stroke severity at onset and a remarkably low rate of IVT. Overall, patients on DOAC might have better functional outcome at 3?months. Further research is needed to overcome potential restrictions for IVT in patients taking DOACs. Exercise is recommended as a promising intervention for people with cognitive impairment. However, which type of exercise is the most beneficial for people with MCI or dementia seems still unclear. The objective of this article is to assess the relative effectiveness of different types of exercise on cognitive function in people with MCI or dementia using network meta-analysis.
Systematic review, meta-analysis, and network meta-analysis.
We will systematically search electronic databases including PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, EMBASE, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus, and PsycINFO. To avoid missing the eligible literature, we will examine the reference lists of systematic reviews publication since 2017. WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform and ClinicalTrials.gov will also be retrieved to identify eligible trials. Two independent researchers will irapy in people with MCI or dementia. The data are acquired continuously using Cartesian sampling and sorted into respiratory and cardiac bins using the self-gating signal. The reconstruction is performed using a recently proposed Bayesian method called ReVEAL4D. ReVEAL4D is validated using data from 8 healthy volunteers and 2 patients and compared with compressed sensing technique, L1-SENSE.
Healthy subjects-Compared with 2D phase-contrast MRI (2D-PC), flow quantification from ReVEAL4D shows no significant bias. In contrast, the peak velocity and peak flow rate for L1-SENSE are significantly underestimated. Compared with traditional parallel MRI-based 4D flow imaging, ReVEAL4D demonstrates small but significant biases in net flow and peak flow rate, with no significant bias in peak velocity. All 3 indices are significantly and more markedly underestimated by L1-SENSE. Patients-Flow quantification from ReVEAL4D agrees well with the 2D-PC reference. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/6-thio-dg.html In contrast, L1-SENSE markedly underestimated peak velocity.
The combination of highly accelerated 5-minute Cartesian acquisition, self-gating, and ReVEAL4D enables whole-heart 4D flow imaging with accurate flow quantification.

Empowerment has gained high priority in the world health strategy, being claimed for its benefits for people's health and well-being.
The design includes an exploratory cross-sectional, correlational study.
We collected data between January 2018-October 2019 from a convenience sample of 82 families attending a 5-year-old well-child visit and 25 nurses at Portuguese health centres. Families and nurses assessed the same counselling session using parallel statements of the Portuguese Empowering Speech Practice Scale, grouped in two subscales (nurses' action and families' action). Questionnaires also included the Parent's Longitudinal Continuity in Primary Care scale, the Family Nutrition and Physical Activity tool and anthropometric and sociodemographic questions. We employed descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-test, analysis of variance and reboth from professionals' and families' perspectives and to identify areas of improvement.
The Portuguese Empowering Speech Practice Scale can be a useful tool to evaluate services, both from professionals' and families' perspectives and to identify areas of improvement.
